2002 - 2004

2002

2002 was my first year at high school where I attended Bunbury Senior High in year 8.
I continued playing soccer for Hay Park United in the under 14’s team, being aged 13 at the time. I was introduced to goalkeeping but didn't think at the time that I would ever become a goalkeeper.

2003

Year 9 was good enough for me, I discovered computers and some of what is possible to do with one.

I played soccer for Hay Park United in the under 14’s that followed on from the year before. In this year I discovered my goalkeeper abilities, but still didn't know if I was made for it. I would love to thank my coach from that year, who pushed me into goals and although it wasn't all smiles, I still enjoyed it and am grateful that I was made to be number 1. There were some hard times, I particularly remember one game where I conceded 8 goals and felt the worst i'd ever felt on the pitch. Total dissapointment, sorrow, remorse and I lost all self belief which led to frustration resulting in anger. I don't recommend that feeling for any teenager in sport as it probably isn't good for them, nor their parents. But going through something like that usually doesn't have a lasting bad affect on you. A soccer match only lasts 90 minutes, so once the game is up, you start winding down. I actually believe it made me a stronger person and an even better football player. If it were to ever happen again, which it infact did, then I would know what it is like to be in that certain situation and I could cope with it like a man. To any young player who wants to one day become a professional football or even hocky goalkeeper, keep your head up at least 100% of the match, as every other player on the team relies on you. Whether you like it or not but if not, then you shouldn't be between the posts. It's all a learning experience.

My mother introduced me to work and I started my first job at a Bunbury restaurant called Tarantinos. They served Italian seafood in the year of 2003. I enjoyed it and made enough money to keep myself as happy as a 14 year old would want to be. My love for food is the result of working there.
